Abstract

Prevalent vertebral fractures and bone mineral density
(BMD) are key criteria in assessing fracture risk. The
World Health Organization (WHO) diagnostic criteria
define ‘severe osteoporosis’ as low bone mass in the
presence of one or more fragility fractures.
