Chronic insulin use increases risk of colorectal cancer in type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract
According to the authors of a retrospective cohort study published in the October issue of Gastroenterology, clinical studies have shown hyperinsulinaemia to be independently associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). Further, studies show that type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is linked to a 30 - 40% increased risk of developing CRC.
