The mechanism of action of the oral anti-diabetic drugs: A review of recent literature

Abstract
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disorder that places an increasing burden on health service delivery worldwide. It has also become increasingly important that the physicians who treat these patients have a good knowledge of the antidiabetic drugs that are presently available or will on the market be in the future. This article offers an overview on all the major drug classes as well as some information on pharmacokinetics,-dynamics, side-effect profiles and indications of use.
