Insulin resistance (IR) is thought to underlie the development of a number of clinically important disorders, including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), coronary artery disease (CAD), hypertension, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
